UrbanOutsource joins the list of market place startups

With the endless expanse of tasks to attend to in today’s sporadic work environment, it’s easy to become complacent with menial things such as vacuuming, gardening, building that IKEA table or sanitising your dungeon.

Australian start-up UrbanOutsource has just launched in Australia with hopes of attending to your most dreaded household chores.

UrbanOutsource was founded by Noga Edelstein and Elke Keeley out of their own frustration of having to balance their demanding careers alongside family commitments and general household duties. With little help to be found, the former senior executive workers at Yahoo!7 took it into their own accord to create the service they once so desperately sought. In 2013 UrbanOutsource was born – an online contracting service that caters to three main categories encompassing the common household: cleaning, gardening and handyman.

It currently joins the ranks of other online contracting services such as OneFlare, which offers their own extensive range of home, technical and lifestyle options. If there is any indication of the whole outsourcing segment rapidly becoming too crowded in Australia, Co-founder Noga Edelstein is not yet phased; especially if their latest figures are anything to go by.

“We’ve continued our pattern of more than doubling our month-on-month revenue growth since starting to test our on-demand platform earlier this year,” says Edelstein.

So how does it work? 

The service currently operates within the Sydney and Melbourne region with national expansion on the cards in the coming months. Licensed and experienced gardeners, cleaners or handymen are booked online via UrbanOutsource at the time of your disposal and payment is made upfront via credit card. Everything is processed online to avoid the hassle of negotiation or wasting time.

The necessity for such services has been on the debating table as of late as it highlights the legitimacy of the specific help some Australians require against the fostering of the next generation of cashed-up slackos. Regardless, the home outsourcing services industry is now a multi-billion dollar platform with many already calling AirBnB, Airtasker and Uber some of the most crucial on-demand services available.

“We believe home services is the next big category primed for an offline to online transformation here in Australia,” adds Keeley.
